Happy New Year!
January 1, 2009

From all of us here at DrillSheet.com we wish you a striking New Year!  What bowling resolutions have you made for 2009?  Here's our top 10!

When thinking of New Year's Resolutions, you rarely include BOWLING resolutions.  However, you should!  Those who set goals achieve goals.  If you don't have a direction, you'll end up in a fog.  Here are the top 10 BOWLING resolutions for 2009.  Use as many as you like to keep yourself sharp and improve your abilities!

10-  Join a certified USBC Sport League or PBA Experience League.  The benefits are exponential.  Ask anyone who has, and they'll tell you they compete at a higher level because of the demanding conditions they are exposed to on a regular basis.

9-  Learn as much as you can about surface & layout.  When you understand the dynamic relationship between these two major components, you'll directly improve your game.  Knowing how a ball SHOULD react by looking at it gives you a distinct advantage over much of your competition.

8-  Get involved locally.  Does your local association need help?  Do you have ideas to stimulate membership in your area?  We need to nurture our sport to ensure it's success.  Growing it at the grass roots level will provide us with future members!

7-  Increase your tournament play.  Pick 2 extra tournaments this year that you haven't been to and just do it!  Experience grows each time you compete and a little extra cash wouldn't hurt either!

6Rethink your mental game.  Read a book or two on sports psychology.  Doesn't matter WHAT sport the author is talking about, there's plenty to take with you there.  Now use it!

5-  Motivate kids.  Volunteer to coach Saturday morning youth leagues or start an after school league in your area.  "I believe the children are our future...."  Whitney was right!

4-  Get some coaching.  I'm not talking about your buddy Al who heckles you from the bar, either.  Find a respectable coach in your area, or attend one of the various facilities around the country.  Dollar for dollar, you'll earn what you put in.

3-  Let's get physical.  I know many of you don't believe that being fit has much to do with bowling, but take a look at the superstars of our sport both stateside and internationally.  Rarely do you see out of shape, sloppy bowlers being consistently successful.  Not only will you compete better, but you just might do it LONGER too!

2-  Practice. Practice. Practice.  We continually under estimate the value of productive practice.  It's not easy for a reason.  Motivate yourself SOMEHOW and commit to a fair and reasonable schedule.

1-  Use DrillSheet.com to your advantage!   Over 1000 of you registered users have discovered this FREE tool that you can use to grow your game.  Tell your friends and get your favorite Pro Shop on board!

Thank you for a great 2008!  Look for us all to shine in 2009!
